Revlon-a-thon #4 : Colorstay Whipped Crème Makeup

Over the last year and a half, I have to say that Revlon has become my favorite drugstore brand. I own all of their liquid foundations and love them all (besides the photoready on but that's another story). I was very excited when they came out with this one because I have combination to dry skin so even if I take the regular Colorstay in Dry Skin, it still dries my face a bit. It cost around 16 to 20$ here in Canada.

It claims that this foundation can be worn for 24hrs (which I hope I won't do), that it's talc-free and paraben-free which is good, and it also says that it's buildable to full coverage. "Bouncy, whipped formula feels ultra light and silky smooth."

I have to agree with everything they claim about this foundation. I love it! The formula is great and very light, feels like skin and looks like it. As you can see from the photo, it's in a glass jar. There is also a little plastic lid but I dropped it on the floor so I threw it but it's better to keep it. I would prefer if it has a pump, just because I prefer everything with one but it's hard to imagine a cream product with a pump, I know! Haha! They made it very simple to select your shade because they took the exact same color as the original Colorstay which is a real plus! So for this summer, I was 220 Nude and it matched me really good. What's nice with Revlon is that they have in most stores, a good variety of shades to choose from. It doesn't have an SPF so be aware of that! Good for photoshoot but think about that on sunny days.

The finish for this foundation is semi-matte in my opinion. Since I do like a glowy or satin finish, sometimes I mix it with a bit of moisturizer but you don't have to! On my skin it wears really beautifully for the entire day, or until I take it off. I don't notice any shine peaking through (combo skin) and it doesn't oxydizes. The texture is very smooth and if you didn't like the regular Colorstay because it was too heavy for you, you may like this one better. If you still want to use a primer under this, even with the amazing hold, I suggest you use one that is water-based because the foundation is water-based so nothing will slide off. I don't feel that I have to powder over this, but I prefer to do it on my T-zone. I use just a light touch with the powder and Et Voilà!

The bottom line for this product is that I really enjoy it and that I totally recommend it to anyone! I think even oily skins can rock this if well powdered. So I hope you all like my review and I will write soon! :)

Revlon-a-thon #3 : Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain

Keeping up with my Revon-a-thon, here are the Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain. These lip sticks were a big collective hype in the beauty community all around Youtube. And I fully understand why! The first lip stick I tried was from Lise Watier, it was called Lip Kiss Crayon Gloss but it got discontinued. Those are a more glossy lip product that wears pretty easily but the Revlon ones are true stains.

I first got the nude color called Charm (035) and I really liked it so a couple of days later I went out and bought Sweetheart (025). A feature that I really enjoy about the Balm Stains is that you just have to twist the end part to get the product out, so no need to find a sharpener that's big enough to fit them! The only thing is, they will get flat s no more precision with them after a while. The fact that the color of the packaging is almost identical as what the colors of the balm is is very convenient when you look trough your collection. You see right away what the color is and it's faster for "on the go". I have to say that I don't like the smell of these (minty sent) but that is just my personal preference because it's quite a strong smell. If you enjoy minty lip products, this is great. The two shades that I own a really different but I feel like the first pay off is good for both. Charm is very nude on me since I'm so pale but during the day, it turns very pink on my lips and I don't really like that. I don't find myself reaching for these products very often because of the scent and the fact that Charm changes color when I wear it.

I would say that this is a really great product that Revlon came out with, it's just not my thing. The color selection is awesome and there is a color for everyone in the line. I think that everybody can use the Balm Stains even beginners because they are easy to use and they stay on, so no touch-ups! Only downside for me : the strong minty scent. Which may be a nice touch for you if you like it!

I hope you enjoyed this little review! Comment or question, please leave them in the comment section!

Revlon-a-thon #2 : Colorstay Liquid Liner

This is the second review in my Revlon-a-thon serie. As you may know if you read my blogpost on Lise Watier makeup, I had already found my Holy Grail black eyeliner. Since it's my favorite, I use it up pretty fast and this time, I wanted to try someting else before buying another one of the Encre Noir liner. I checked out a couple of review on Youtube about the best liquid liner but I thought, if I change my favorite, I'd prefer a drugstore eyeliner! So I found on emilynoel83 channel (My favorite youtuber of all time) that the Revlon Colorstay Liquid Liner is her favorite liquid liner! I went out, bought it and here is my thought on it.

First, I have to tell you what i'm looking for in a liquid liner. I want control, a small applicator for tiny lines and details, a very matte black formula and a good staying power. I prefer brush tip applicators and a quite short but not too tiny handle.
This product has a felt tip and I was really impressed with the application of it! You can achieve a very small line with it or get crazy and make a big wing and there is no problem at all. I actually really enjoy the tip since it's short and pointy, it makes it easier to apply the product. I also like the handle on this, you have a lot of control with this kind of handle(it's very similar to the Lise Watier one) and that's what I want. The product itself is a very rich black and the formula is not dry still not super wet. It glides well and and sets pretty fast. The staying power is great! It will stay all day. It's been some days that I didn't thought about it but I went out in the rain without an umbrella, got some raindrops on my face , came inside and did my things and at the end of the day, this eyeliner hadn't move a bit! And it's not waterproof! It's just really good and it will stay until you take it off.

In conclusion, if you want to try a new liquid liner that is easy to use and that is a drugstore product, go for this one!

I hope you liked this review and if you have a request or comment, please let me know !

Face Of The Day - Warm Eyes, Soft Lips

I already said that but I live in Canada, in the province of Quebec. Here, the weather is hot in summer (from 25°C to 30°C) and very cold in the winter (from -25°C to 30°C). So when the autumn is coming, it also means that the weather is gonna change drastically in about a month! This is also the perfect time to warm up my makeup and get into colors like burgundy, gold and deep bronze shades! So here is a look that I really enjoy for this period of the year.

I bought the Wet'n'Wild trio today but I'm not sure if I like it as much as their other trios. The shadows are a bit powdery but the colors are great. I also bought the lipstick today and I really like that line by Kate Moss for Rimmel! I wish there was more shades to chose from.

Products I used :

Face

-Revlon Colorstay foundation in 220 - natural beige
-MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural in Medium Plus
-Stila Convertible Color in Peony for my blush (sample)
-Hard Candy So Baked Bronzer in 129 - tiki

                                                         Eyes

Revlon-a-thon #1 : Brow Fantasy

I first discovered the Revlon Brow Fantasy because of a Youtube guru that I really like, MakeupByTiffanyD. I also bought it because it contains both a pencil and a brow gel which is very convinient. I've really got into filling  brows two years ago when my mom got a brow kit from Lise Watier. I saw a really big difference on her and I got myself a Nars brow pencil which I really like. I was looking for a brow gel but I just never bought one.

I have to say that I'm a little picky with my brows when I fill them. I prefer to use two shades of pencil because it looks more natural. I use my Nars pencil in Jodhpur, a neutral warm brown on the inner part of my brows and the Brow Fantasy on the ends. I finish the look by adding a thin coat of the brow gel and I'm done. I picked the shade Dark Blonde since I'm very pale but I want to try the shade Brunette.

I like the pencil part but it's not my favorite because it's not sticky enough. The Nars pencil that I use is dry but the formula seems to act like a wax and I prefer that. The pencil on the Brow Fantasy is OK in my opinion for the second part of my brows(arch+end) but I wouldn't use it for the entire thing because it doesn't stay well enough. I find that it fades a lot during the day, even with the brow gel. Talking of the brow gel, I don't like it much. I think that the formula a bit too liquidy. I also don't really like the tint of it. It turns my eyebrows a bit too ashy for me and the gel doesn't "disappear" completely. When I wear it, if you know a bit about makeup and you look at my brows, you will see the gel. It makes strikes of color on the hair and that's what I don't like. Maybe it's because of the shade but I'm pretty sure that the Brunette would be a bit too dark. I think that If you like a gel that's on the liquidy side and you have the right eyebrow shade, this is a product you may like. As I said, it's some people's favorite so you just have to try it I guess!

I hope you liked this review and make sure to leave a comment if you have a question :) Have a nice day xx

L'Oreal True Match Lumi Foundation

Just like a lot of people, I'm on the hunt for the perfect foundation for me. I'm looking for a natural looking skin but with enough coverage to hide most of the redness on my face. I prefer a satin finish most of the time but I enjoy a semi-mat finish once in a while. I don't usually go for dewy foundation because I like to use powder so it's pointless for me. The retail price of this foundation is around 14 to 18$, it depends on where you buy it.

It says on the bottle that it will illuminate, unify and improve the look of the skin for a healthy-looking complexion and there is vitamins C & E in it.
This foundation has a sheer to medium coverage but it can build up quite nicely. It gives a healthy glow but it's not greasy. I'd say that this is between satin and dewy finish. I apply it with my fingers most of the time because with this foundation, that's how I get the most natural look.It has a very nice pump and I need 1-1½ pump of product for my face and neck. It blends really well and allows you to place it on your face before you blend it. It feels lightweight and it's very comfortable to wear throughout the day. I prefer to set it with a powder over my T-Zone but it does set nicely. For the staying power, I'd say it holds up pretty well during the day with one (or two if it's humid outside)touch-up of powder on the T-Zone. There is 15 shades to choose from and you have to know what undertone you are(neutral, cool or warm). My shade is n3 natural buff and it suits me very well. One of the things I like to have in a foundation is a sun protection and the Lumi has a SPF of 20 which is really great. I don't really care for flashbacks simply because I don't really like to have my photos taken so it's not a big deal for me. Lastly, I would suggest this foundation to people who have normal, combination or dry skin. Since it's quite luminous, this might not be the best option for those who have oily skin.

I have to say that I really like this foundation! I love how it feels, how it looks, how my skin reacts with it, I just really enjoy wearing this foundation. Most of it's features are ones I look for in a product and I'm quite impress by that! If it's not discontinued when I'm done with that bottle, I will absolutely buy it again.

I hope my review helped you to know more about this foundation and decide if you want to get it or not. For any question or comment, please leave it in the comments section :)

Drugstore Mascaras : My top picks

Time to talk about mascaras! I think it's the only makeup product that I wear every single day. It just adds so much to the look and opens the eyes like nothing else. What I look for in a mascara is a lot of volume mostly at the roots of lashes, good lenght and good definition. I prefer rubbery bristles most of the time and I tend to like big brushes better. I don't wear waterproof mascara everyday, I only use waterproof during very hot days and when I go out. Now that you know a little more about what I like, here are my top 3 drugstore mascaras! All of them are similar in price, they cost all under 10$ depending where you by them. These 3 mascara's formula are not too dry/not too liquid, just perfect for me.

#3 Covergirl Lash Blast - Original

Out of my 3 picks, the Lash Blast is the first that I tried(obviously because it came out way before haha!). The brush is really big and it has very short rubbery bristles. I like that at the end of the brush, the bristles are even shorter and makes me able to coat even the smaller lashes in the inner corner. It gives me volume at the roots, good definition and pretty good length. This mascara NEVER smudges on me. It's very longwearing and gives(and holds) a nice curl. I like that the blackest black is very dark and intense. The packaging is quite sleek. The end of the handle is a bit too thin for me to have a really good grip on it.
As you may or may not know, this mascara comes now in 4 different formulas. There is the original in the orange packaging- which is my favorite of the bunch, there's also a pink and a purple tube, pink one has colored sparkles(4 shades available) and the purple one should give more lenght but to me they are the same as the original. The last that came out is the Lash Blast 24 Hour. I don't really like it just because it's too long wearing and hard to take off.

#2 Maybelline One by One Volum'Express

Usually I don't really like Maybelline mascaras but I'm so glad I tried this one because I love it! The brush head is flexible so it's convinient to get every lash. The bristles are kind of on the softer side, they are not stiff like the Voluminous Million Lashes bristles, they have a medium lenght and are shorter on both end of the brush. This mascara gives me moderate volume, great length and great definition! It rarely smudges and gives a nice curl. It's a dark formula but I find it less intense than my other 2 favorites. I love the packaging because the handle is perfect and allows a lot of control. There is just the right amount of product that comes out on the brush. I know it's not usual but I kinda like the scent of this mascara!

#1 L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Carbon Black

My boyfriend first got this for me as a little surprise. He bought me a bunch of new things that came out at that time and he knows nothing about makeup but I was very happy with a lot of the things he bought! so thanks Honey :)
The brush is just perfect for me. Once again the brush has rubbery bristles(did I mention that I loved rubbery bristles brushes ? haha!) and they are pretty long and a bit stiff. The combination of these features makes it so easy to coat each lash and to add a good layer of mascara every time you brush trough them. I also really like the handle which is very easy to work with and the brush head is flexible, again, easier to work with. This mascara gives great volume, great length and great definition and it's a A+ for my lashes! I love how they look with this mascara! It smudges only if it's really hot outside but I don't even care because I love it that much. It gives a beautiful curl and holds it pretty well. The darkest black is really dark. I like the golden packaging, I think it's classy and feels higher end. Love It!

Have a good day :)
